Martha’s Vineyard is an island located south of Cape Cod and is the 57th largest island in the U.S. It is part of the state of Massachusetts and Dukes County. The island received its name from English explorer Bartholomew Gosnold in 1602 and has become a popular home to tourists thanks to its cozy summer weather and gorgeous beaches. Martha’s Vineyard is accessible via ferry from Woods Hole, Massachusetts, along with Falmouth, New Bedford, Hyannis, and Quonset Point, Rhode Island. Air travel is also available from Boston, Providence, New York, Philadelphia, and Washington, DC. Shuttle services are also available between most of the ferry piers.
